BlackBerry Z10 vs. Apple's iPhone5: Which is a Better Buy?

With the recent launch of BlackBerry's Z10, consumers have begun a comparison between the newly-launched phone and Apple's iPhone 5. Which one is a better buy?

While BlackBerry's Z10 is already available in UK and can be purchased in Canada from February 5, the company has announced that its U.S. launch has been pushed to March, the reason being U.S. carriers take longer to test the devices. Nonetheless, this hasn't stopped consumers from drawing a comparison between the Z10 and Apple's iPhone5 to see which would be the better buy.

Price:

Although BlackBerry didn't reveal a release date in the U.S., they did reveal that the Z10 will be launched at $199.99 with a two-year contract which makes the price similar to the 16GB iphone5.

Display:

The Z10 has a 4.2-inch display with1280x768p resolution while the iPhone5 has 4.0-inch display with 640x1,136p resolution.

Operating System:

The Z10 works on BlackBerry 10 operating system which offers more than 70,000 applications while the iPhone5 function on Apple iOS 6 which has recently been upgraded to 6.1 and offers more than 80,000 applications.

Camera:

Z10 has an 8.0 megapixel rear camera and a 2.0 megapixel front camera. Apple's iPhone5 also has an 8MP rear camera with and a 1.2MP front camera with 720p HD video recording capability.

RAM and storage capacity

BlackBerry's Z10 has a 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory and a microSD slot for expandable memory up to 32GB. Apple's iPhone5 has a 1GB RAM and available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB internal memory models.

Keypad

Z10 doesn't have the traditional QWERTY keyboard as it's a touchscreen model with word prediction feature, which predicts the word you may be trying to spell as you type each letter in. Unlike other smartphones, the Z10 predicts what the user wants to type to prevent typos.
