1-Year-Old Boy Shot and Killed in Brooklyn Neighborhood: Brownsville Mourns the Loss of Innocent Child Antiq Hennis (VIDEO)

A 1-year-old boy was shot and killed in a Brooklyn neighborhood on Sunday night. Now, authorities are on the hunt for the person who pulled the trigger.

Antiq Hennis and his mother and father were just one block away from their home in the neighborhood of Brownsville when three or four shots were fired into the stroller where the child lay, witnesses reported.

According to local news, Antiq's father, Anthony Hennis, was most likely the marked target, but that Antiq got caught in the crossfire.

The child was fatally shot in the head.

Neither Anthony nor Antiq's mother were harmed by the shooting, but a neighbor said that Anthony was beside himself once he realized what happened.

"He was screaming, 'My baby got shot.' He was going crazy," Gina Gamboa told the New York Daily News. "The baby was breathing, but his eyes were closed. It's crazy. They just will start shooting."

According to the New York Post, Anthony Hennis has been arrested more than 20 times in both New York and Pennsylvania for narcotics, possession of weapons and a handful of other felonies. Law enforcement officials told the Daily News that this shooting was most likely an act of revenge from a past issue.

Antiq died in Brookdale University Hospital just before 9 p.m.

Uncle Chris Dobson told the New York Times that Antiq was a lively child.

"He was very energetic, happy," he said. "Tragedy happened. It's just sad."

Members of the community were hit hard by the devastating news.

Councilman Charles Barron expressed anguish to the Daily News.

"The family is shocked and devastated," Barron said. "The child didn't even get a chance to start his life, and now it's over."

Antiq, whose parents are from Trinidad, had his first birthday this past May.
