If former "Spider-Man" director Sam Raimi has his way, Peter Parker will be going back to high school in the character's newest film iteration. For most of us, high school was a period of self-discovery and overcoming life's trials and tribulations. According to Raimi, exploring those relatable high school moments will give audiences a new perspective on our webbed hero.

In discussing the future of Spiderman, Raimi provided MTV his vision for the future of the character: "I'd like to go into his high school life and his relationships with Gwen Stacy. I love Flash Thompson. The drama and the difficulty of going through high school is so unique to a superhero. That's what Spider-Man's all about, so that they're going to explore that is very exciting."

Raimi believes the franchise would benefit from delving more into the life of Peter Parker, the struggling high school student, rather than recycling Peter Parker, the superhero.

Fortunately, it appears as if Marvel and Sony Studios agree, as 19-year-old Tom Holland ("The Impossible") will be undertaking the titular role. As Raimi noted, his formative years have not been fully explored in the five big screen "Spider-Man" film adaptations to date. Marvel President Kevin Feige hopes to do just that with this new version, allowing  this younger Spider-Man to headline the Marvel Cinematic Universe for years to come.

Holland's Peter Parker will make his MCU debut in next year's "Captain America: Civil War" before getting his own solo film in 2017.
