DMX is getting locked up - again. The 44-year-old rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, has been sentenced to six months in jail in Buffalo, N.Y., on Tuesday following his arrest last June for failing to pay some $400,000 in child support, Billboard reported.

Shaggy confirmed the news on Twitter, saying that the "Party Up" rapper would not perform at Shaggfest 2015 in Virginia Beach on July 25 due to his incarceration.

"It comes with sadness and regret, but Dmx will not be attending this year #shaggfest. -- He got locked up today for 6 months," Shaggy wrote. "He begged the judge to let him finish his last 3 shows. Two this weekend and one next week. Which was #shaggfest. But the judge said no. Now I will find something to replace that slot and it will be great."

He added, "We took a huge risk with Dmx and I'm not upset about the effort. 7 am tomorrow we will tell you more details on this arrest and also what our plan is to fill that spot."

The rapper was arrested on June 26 in New York City just as he was about to perform at Radio City Music Hall.

At the time of his arrest, a spokesman for the New York City Sheriff's Department told WPIX-TV said that DMX was taken into custody "for several issues outstanding" including being behind $400,000 in child support payments.  The rapper also has a warrant issued by the city of White Plains after he was named a suspect in a robbery at a gas station in Newark, N.J. April 5.
