The New York Knicks "want to be in" the mix for free-agent guard Danny Green, ESPN reports.

It is unclear if Green has any interest in the Knicks at this point though. New York's curiosity makes sense as they now have a hole at the shooting guard position after trading Tim Hardaway Jr. The only other guards under contract for the Knicks are Jose Calderon, Langston Galloway and rookie Jerian Grant.

Green is one of several shooting guards the Knicks are reportedly eyeing in free agency. ESPN's Chris Broussard reported that Carmelo Anthony reached out to former teammate Arron Afflalo (and big man LaMarcus Aldridge). The Knicks are also rumored to be meeting with Wesley Matthews.

Green averaged 14.7 points per game last season while hitting 41.9 percent of his 3-pointers for the San Antonio Spurs. Phil Jackson could use some deep range shooting for his triangle offense. At 6-foot-6, Green has also been a quality defender during his six-year career.

The Knicks will have upwards of $26 million in salary cap space but it is unknown what kind of contract Green will be seeking in free agency.

In addition to Green, New York is also reportedly interested in Orlando Magic restricted free agent Tobias Harris. Harris has been "in the conversation" among Knicks brass, according to ESPN, though the Magic have the right to match any offer he receives on the open market. Harris averaged 17.1 points and 6.3 rebounds for the Magic last season. But he has yet to play in more than 68 games in a season due to injuries.
