The latest images from “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” provide a glimpse into Katniss Everdeen’s life after the event of the 75th Quarter Quell.

Katniss is now living in District 13 after the other tributes devised a plan to get her out alive from the Quarter Quell arena. Actress Julianne Moore, who plays President Alma Coin in the film, explained the District 13 environment during a behind-the-scenes interview with the production.

"District 13 really looks like a bomb shelter and that's what it is,” Moore said. “It's all been built hundreds of feet underground, so it can withstand any kind of attack and detection. Basically, the Capitol believes they've destroyed this district that everyone is dead. But these people have managed to...take out what little they had and bring it down there and not exactly prosper. They barely have enough to eat.

"In [Mockingjay], it describes them all as being very thin, which I thought was interesting. Basically, they've been living on these tiny rations. It's not a place where there's a lot of light, not a lot of laughter, not a lot of fun. I think its people just barely getting by."

Katniss has become the district’s only hope as the symbol of the Rebellion against the Capitol. She has also become an important player for the leaders of District 13. Another key player in for District 13 is Cressida, a filmmaker born in the Capitol, is documenting the events of the Rebellion.
