New “Assassin’s Creed: Rogue” screenshots and a trailer give fans a better look at Shay Patrick Cormac and Haythom Kenway.

It is unclear how Cormc and Kenway are connected in the title, which takes place before the events of “Assassin’s Creed III.” Cormac is a former Assassin who chose to align himself with the Templar after an awful betrayal.

“Assassin’s Creed: Rogue” writer Susan Patrick recently spoke to the “Assassin’s Creed” DevBlog about Comrac’s story. Patrick gave a little insight to how Cormac runs into Haytham in the title.

“When Shay meets Haytham, he is looking for a role model,” Patrick said. “And Haytham, in many ways, is the Templar’s Templar. So Shay sees Haytham as someone he can learn a lot from. At the same time, Haytham sees Shay as someone he could learn some things from too. It makes for an interesting dynamic.”

Patrick also explained why the developers the decided to go with a title set after “Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag” but before “Assassin’s Creed 3.”

“The game takes place between the 1750s and the 1760s,” Partick told DevBlog. “Historically, this is a time period that contains the 7 Years War, which was fought in both Europe and the Colonies.

“As it was the first global conflict, this was one of the reasons we chose the time period. The other reason we chose this time period was because it fit in perfectly with the Kenway saga. And as eagle eyed fans have spotted, Haytham makes an appearance in Rogue.”

Patrick claimed fans should expect a “unique” gameplay experience, as the franchise will take an in-depth look into the life of a Templar. Check out the latest trailer for “Assassin’s Creed: Rogue” in the video below.
