Chris Hemsworth may be out of a job now that Marvel has revamped the "THOR" series with a new female God of Thunder.

Marvel has announced writer Jason Aaron and artist Russell Dauterman have created a new heroine.  However, don't confuse the female Thor as a "she" version of the character, like She-Hulk.

"This is not She-Thor. This is not Lady Thor. This is not Thorita. This is THOR. This is the THOR of the Marvel Universe. But it's unlike any Thor we've ever seen before," Aaron said in a press release.

The new THOR heroine will be the eighth Marvel comic to star a title female protagonist.  Marvel hopes to appeal directly to a female audience.

"The inscription on Thor's hammer reads 'Whosoever holds this hammer, if HE be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.' Well it's time to update that inscription," Marvel editor Wil Moss said in a statement. "The new Thor continues Marvel's proud tradition of strong female characters like Captain Marvel, Storm, Black Widow and more. And this new Thor isn't a temporary female substitute - she's now the one and only Thor, and she is worthy!"

The View originally broke the Marvel news of Thor being a woman.  Whoopi Goldberg explained the original Thor "messed up" and can no longer yield a the hammer.

"It's a huge day in the Marvel Universe," Goldberg said. "Thor, the God of Thunder, he messed up, and he's no longer worthy to hold that damn hammer of his. For the first time in history, that hammer is being held by a woman. That's right. Thor is a woman!"

Fans can expect more news about the new Thor at San Diego Comic Con 2014.
