Fargo, N.D., authorities have announced that a standoff that started as a domestic dispute and ultimately turned into a deadly incident, which might very well cost a police officer's life, has finally ended, according to FOX 61 News.

The standoff started on Wednesday night after the police received a distress call from the suspect's son, who said that his father had shot at his mother in their house. Both the suspect's son and wife were eventually able to leave their home, but by the time the police arrived, the man refused to leave the premises. The standoff soon turned violent.

Police Chief David Todd said that when law enforcement officials arrived, the suspect refused to leave the house. Soon, the suspect fired multiple rounds from inside the property. During the chaos, 33-year-old Officer Jason Moszer was gravely wounded, reported KTRE News.

While Moszer was quickly retrieved by a SWAT Team and subsequently rushed to a nearby medical facility, his injuries were found to be very severe. The police chief stated that Moszer's injuries were so grave that he probably would not survive.

Todd also stated that Moszer's family is with him at the hospital, saying goodbye, reported The Republic.

The suspect had been reluctant to speak to negotiators and has consistently exhibited violent tendencies. However, the man has also possibly been shot during a previous exchange of gunfire with a SWAT officer.
