Team India is looking for a strong comeback in the opening ODI match, as South Africa has already thrashed it in recently concluded three-match Twenty 20 International (T20I) series with 2-0.

"I'm disappointed with the result as anybody would be. We play to win. But it's not that it will give me sleepless nights. It has taught me a lot as well going forward into the World Twenty20," Team India director Ravi Shashtri said after the T20 loss, according to Press Trust of India.

"We have had a good look in the two games and know what we can expect of the South Africans. In the one-day competition we understand our game well. We are a far better side in the one-dayers and I expect very good contest over the next month," he added.

South Africa not only won the T20I series against India, but four of its players have also improved their International Cricket Council or ICC Player Rakings for T20I Batsmen.

All rounder JP Duminy has moved up five places to 11th, wicketkeeper batsman AB de Villiers has climbed five places to 34, and two other batsmen Hashim Amla and Farhaan Behardien also improved their rankings.

High on their T20 series victory, South Africa is now looking to win an ODI series in India as they have never won a bilateral ODI series on Indian soil, according to Firstpost.

South African coach Russell Domingo has asked players to focus their energy on the first ODI. "We shouldn't get too cocky and confident on what has happened as we know India are a very quality side. As far as I'm concerned, India are pretty good in all three formats," Domingo said, Indian Express reported.
