The T20 series opener also marked return of Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni to the T20 squad after a three month rest.

Dhoni took jibe on fellow batsman Virat Kohli and fast bowler Ishant Sharma over their on-field aggressive behavior during the recently concluded India Sri Lanka test series.

"Aggression does not mean exchanging words or physical contact...It's good to be aggressive but at the same time we have to follow the guidelines and make sure that all are available and there is no disciplinary action on anyone. We want to play aggressive but within the guidelines," Dhoni said, according to IBN Live.

South African skipper and middle order batsman Faf du Plessis said that his team is comfortable with playing in Indian conditions because of Indian Premier League (IPL) experience.

"I am excited for this tour because it is in India, where we are going to play the World T20. There are a few guys who are getting opportunity, guys who can potentially make an impact in these conditions," he said, according to The Hindu.

"Everything that we do as a T20 side is geared towards that World T20 and there is no difference for this series," Plessis added.
