Cartoon Network is getting a major dose of girl power! The network unveiled the first look at the cast for its "Powerpuff Girls" reboot, which is expected to start airing in 2016.

"The Fosters" actress Amanda Leighton will be voicing Blossom, while newcomer Kristen Li will voice Bubbles and Natalie Palamides will voice Buttercup. The network released three separate vine videos of the actresses introducing themselves and the roles they will be playing.

The animated series centered on pint-sized superheroes Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, who use their superpowers to defend their hometown of Townsville.

"The original Powerpuff Girls was a franchise phenomenon for Cartoon Network, paving the way for a new generation of innovative storytellers and enthusiastic fans worldwide," Rob Sorcher, chief content officer of Cartoon Network, said in a statement, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "We are calling these girls back into action based upon an overwhelming demand for sugar, spice, and Chemical X."

Cartoon Network confirmed that Tom Kenny will be reprising his role as the narrator/mayor. The reboot is being executive produced by Nick Jennings and Bob Boyle.

The original series premiered on Cartoon Network in 1996 and had a 78-episode run, including a film in 2002.
