National Donut Day is Friday June 5 and there are a few different ways and places to get your free donut.

Dunkin' Donuts is one of the larger chains offering a free donut to all nationwide. As long as you purchase a beverage of some sort, you can get any donut you please, the company has said in a press release.

"Doughnuts have a special place in our country's history and culture," Dunkin' Donuts chief executive Jeff Miller said in a statement. "Creating moments of delight, lifting spirits and bringing people together at work and at home."

Another big donut chain offering a free tasty treat is Krispy Kreme. The best part about Krispy Kreme participating is that there is no purchase necessary, so pick whichever donut you desire at no cost, according to The Daily Meal.

If you are in New York Friday, Entenmann's will be doing something extra special in Madison Square Park. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. they will be handing out free donuts along with a free cup of coffee to the first 40,000 people, NY Daily news has reported.

Tim Hortons will also be participating, but you do need to purchase a hot beverage and make sure to bring this coupon along. The best thing about this offer, though, is that the coupon is valid until August 30. It's limited to a chocolate hazelnut donut filled with Nutella, but who's really complaining about that?

Many local donut shops also take part in the holiday, so be sure to check with places near you.
