While the Robertson family that stars in A&E's "Duck Dynasty" built an empire based on calling ducks they have spent the past summer focusing on a higher calling as they travel the country on a speaking circuit to promote family values, their Christian faith and the right to bear arms, according to the New York Daily News.
Recently the reality stars appeared at Rick Warren's church as part of a "Duck Dynasty Day" where Phil Robertson, the family's patriarch, and Alan, the beardless brother who will be joining the show in the upcoming season, where they warned the congregation about "political correctness trumping Biblical correctness," according to the New York Daily News.
Willie Robertson, the brother who has taken over for Phil as CEO of the family's duck call manufacturer Duck Commander, thinks the key to the show's success is the wholesome image the family portrays, according to the Holland Sentinel.
"I think it's the family values in the show," Robertson said. "It's funny, it's well done, and if you put those things together, I'm thinking America was really wanting that. We kind of stood out in the crowd, and a lot of people have been watching that, that's for sure."
Jase Robertson, one of the three bearded brothers on the show, told the Deseret News that the fame that he has received from the highly rated show isn't very important to him.
"The reason I said fame and fortune is frivolous to me is because we were raised really poor, my brothers, we had one bed, one room," Robertson said. "But nobody told us we were poor and I was just as happy. The reason is because we loved who we were with, with our family. That's really the reason we love to hunt. It's not so much about what we get to eat or how many ducks we shoot, it's about who we're with."
"Duck Dynasty" will return for a fourth season on August 14 with an hour-long premiere featuring Phil and Miss Kay renewing their vows.
