No, everyone's favorite space pirate/Cloud City head honcho will not be appearing in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." But that doesn't mean that Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams) is done in the "Star Wars" galaxy.

"Right now, there's no Lando Calrissian in this movie," co-screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan ("The Empire Strikes Back," "Return of the Jedi," "Raiders of the Lost Ark") confirmed to Vanity Fair. "But Lando I don't think is finished in any way, shape, or form."

Williams has indicated in the past that he would be open to reprising his iconic role as Lando on the silver screen. However, it's not clear if there is any specific plan from Lucasfilm to reintroduce the character. We have no idea if he will play any role in Rian Johnson's "Star Wars: Episode VIII" or the planned "Episode IX."

Williams has provided vocals for an animated version of Lando in the TV series "Star Wars Rebels" and the character is about to headline his own Marvel comic book series in the coming months. While there is no guarantee that he will show up in this new trilogy (or the anthology standalone films Lucasfilm is also planning) it's clear that he isn't far from the creative team's thoughts.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will hit theaters on December 18.
