Dying 2-Year-Old Son to be Best Man for His Parents’ Wedding

A couple in Jeannette, Pennsylvania, Sean Stevenson and Christine Swidorsky, has plans of tying the knot next year but because of their 2-year old son, who has leukemia and other complications, with just weeks left to live, they opted to get wed this weekend.

Swidorsky said in USA Today, “We want Logan in our family pictures, and we want him to see his mother and dad get married.”

Her 13-year-old daughter from a previous relationship, Isabella Johns, will be the bride’s maid, Logan will be the best man, and the couple's one-year-old daughter, Savannah, will be the flower girl.

Logan has a rare disease that often causes cancer. It is called Fanconi Anemia. At 14 months, he was diagnosed with acute myeloid and underwent stem cell transplant a year ago. They removed one of his kidneys to a tumor in March and the other developed a mass now.

The doctors informed the couple last week that the boy would only live for 2 to 3 weeks more.

"It'll be the hardest thing I'll ever do, is bury my son. You know it's coming, and you can't do anything about it," Stevenson said in USA Today.

Family and friends worked together for the preparation of his parents’ wedding while Logan spends his last days resting in his parents’ home,

"The best thing for Logan is to be home with his parents," Swidorsky said, adding doctors told the couple "he would be in more pain in the hospital."

Swidorsky added that she has learned a lot from their dying son, Logan. Stating, “He’s made me a better person. He’s just an angel from heaven, and I’m going to miss him”.

Stevenson stated, "I just am thankful that I am able to bring my son home and have time with him and hold him before he goes. So, in that sense, I feel lucky that I at least get to say goodbye to my son ... and tell him it's going to be OK."
