Seven months after LG first displayed its Curved OLED HDTV at the CES 2013, the device is finally available for purchase in the United States for a staggering $14,999.

LG Electronics announced the sale of the revolutionary new Curved OLED HDTV in the U.S. market, seven months after its launch at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The super-thin 55-inch class (54.6-inch diagonal) LG CURVED OLED TV went on sale at Best Buy's flagship Magnolia Design Center store in Richfield with a price tag of $14,999.

Best Buy, the world's largest consumer-electronics retailer store, will extend the sales of the LG's latest technology in Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Houston, Dallas, San Francisco, Chicago, Seattle and San Antonio in the coming weeks. LG's new model 55EA9800 is the world's first OLED TV to receive THX® Display Certification by passing more than 600 THX laboratory tests to ensure exceptional picture quality and IMAX like viewing experience at home.

"We are fully committed to bringing next generation technologies to the global market," Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Electronics' Home Entertainment Company, said in a press release. "The next-generation display technology and the advanced ultra-thin curved design in the LG CURVED OLED TV represents a new era in home entertainment. It must be seen to be believed."

LG is the first company to sell both the flat screen OLED TV and the new Curved OLED TV. The demand for OLED TV is expected to grow up to 7 million units by 2016, according to Display Search. The OLED TV began its sale in Korea in January, before it was released in the U.S. The Curved OLED TV sale began in Korea in April.

The LG Curved OLED TV is 0.17 inches thin and weighs less than 38 pounds. The WRGB technology used in the new OLED TV gives spectacularly vibrant and realistic image quality. The new OLED TV also features the LG Smart TV capabilities such as Magic Remote, Voice Recognition to enable gestures and voice controls and high quality audio performance with thin transparent film speakers, according toSacbee.com. The LG Curved OLED TV has also been awarded the top Red Dot: Best of the Best honor at the 2013 Red Dot international design competition.
