Waze is a unique app from 2013 that uses crowdsourced information to help drivers find the best routes and avoid speed traps, traffic delays, and other obstacles to getting to a destination. But now, the app will offer users the ability to find out how long a traffic delay will last.

The latest iOS update, Waze 3.9.4, adds a visual "traffic bar" that tracks your vehicle's progress. As drivers slowly traverse through traffic, the system will track their position and update the bar accordingly.

"The (traffic) bar can give you a visual sense of how long it will take until you escape from all that traffic," reports CNET.

While this feature may seem minor when compared to most of Waze's functionality, it was enough to inspire one writer from BGR to stop using Google Maps and start using Waze.

Waze 3.9.4 also added a confirmation feature that will alert other users when the ETA you send arrives. The app now also has voice compatibility for checking which route the app is taking.

Android users received the Waze 3.9.4 update last month, which earned positive praise from users. This isn't a surprising move, since Google owns Waze and would put an emphasis on updating the Android version over the iOS version.

The update follows several months after Waze got in trouble for letting users track police officers. A coalition of officers approached Google about removing the feature. When Google ignored the pleas, police officers started posting phony police locations into the system in order to mess with it.
