The cast and crew of NBC's "Parks and Recreation" will watch the series finale of the comedy with heavy hearts on Tuesday night.

Harris Wittels, an executive producer, writer and occasional actor on the show, was found dead in his apartment on Feb. 19 after what police think is a drug overdose.

After the credits of the show's final episode, there will be a "We Love You, Harris" message from the cast and crew, according to Deadline.com.

Wittels had been part of the "Parks and Rec" family since its first season. He wrote many of the show's popular episodes, including "Filibuster" and "Media Blitz," and first appeared on screen as an animal control employee in season two's "The Possum."

The last episode Wittels is credited with writing is "Ron & Jammy," which aired on Jan. 13 as part of the two-episode season seven premiere.

Last week, tributes from around the entertainment and comedy world poured in for Wittels.

Aziz Ansari, who plays Tom Haverford on "Parks and Recreation" and is a well-known stand-up comedian, wrote a touching tribute to Wittels on his Tumblr page.

"There are so few people that you meet in life that give you that feeling that you've found a real unique, original person. Harris Wittels was one of those," he wrote.

Show creator Amy Poehler, who portrays main character Leslie Knope on the comedy, was honored at the Unite4:humanity gala for her work with the Worldwide Orphan organization just a day after Wittels' passing and mentioned him in her speech, according to USA Today.

"Today, I lost a friend," she said. "I lost a dear, young man in my life who was struggling with addiction and who died - just a few hours before I came."

The final, hour-long episode of "Parks and Recreation" airs tonight, Feb. 24, at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
