Many women were screaming in the audience when Johnny Depp made his appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Monday night, but it was the talk show host who got to kiss the man he introduced as "one of the biggest stars ever."
After Depp walked on to the set and took his seat, Kimmel told Depp that a long line of women had been waiting to get into the studio to see the star in the flesh. Brushing aside the attention, Depp called them, "Relatives."
Kimmel then praised Depp further. "You have this very handsome, let's just say, beautiful face," he said.
In response, Depp got up from his seat and kissed him on the cheek.
The audience cheered loudly at the act. Depp then almost sat down, changed his mind, got back up, tilted Kimmel's face for a better smooch angle and gave him a peck on the lips.
Kimmel fanned himself and laughed, "I've lost my train of thought."
At which point, he got another kiss from Depp on the lips, who then promised he was done.
"That was more kissing than I did in all of high school," said Kimmel.
Depp responded, "Me too."
The talk show host seemed to find that hard to believe and asked Depp whether he wasn't popular in high school with girls - or talk show hosts.
The actor, who will next be seen in "The Lone Ranger", quipped, "Well, I do have a thing for talk show hosts, obviously." On his popularity, he said, "No. In high school, I was long haired...."
Kimmel wondered if perhaps people were intimidated by him and thought he was a scumbag or a loser.
Depp pretended to give it a second's thought and said, "That's pretty much it."
Later in the show, Kimmel asked Depp about how his kids (he has a daughter and a son from his relationship with Vanessa Paradis) respond to his career. The actor replied that while his kids are incredibly supportive, they've realised that the majority of characters that he plays come from his playing Barbies with them.
"From Barbies?" exclaimed Kimmel.
"And GI Joes," added Depp as an afterthought. "Let's give equal opportunity, right?"
"Wow, I never realised the Supreme Court decision would have such an immediate impact on both of us really," joked Kimmel.
"I do want to say something though," continued Depp's admission. "I played more Barbies."
