Fast and Furious 7 Cast Rumors: 'I've Actually Been Racing With Paul Walker' says Jason Statham

It’s the job of every actor to thoroughly prepare for any role they will be playing. The great ones put just a little bit more into that presentation. Action-movie specialist Jason Statham is no different. In order to prepare for his role as “Ian Shaw” in “Fast and Furious 7,” Statham decided to get some real life experience, according to the Belfast Telegraph.

"I've actually been racing with Paul at Willow Springs in LA, so we've sort of chased each other around the track before," Statham said. He then hinted, "I'm not going to tell you what we're getting up to in this one."

Statham had originally planned to work with Justin Lin, director of the last four “Fast and Furious” movies. However, Lin is passing the reins to director James Wan (Saw) for the seventh film.

"I met Justin Lin, the director who's responsible for many of the great ones they've done. It didn't work out for Fast 6 but he said we'll do something for the next one, so we always knew it was happening," said Statham. "I really wanted to work with Justin but he had so much on his plate, and he couldn't put everything together before the start of the shoot date they wanted so I think he needs a well deserved break."

Regardless of the change in director, Statham said he is looking forward to working with the whole crew.

"They're all a good bunch,” said the “Transporter” star. “I've met many of them in passing on numerous occasions and they seem like a solid little crowd so I'm happy to be a part of that."

Statham’s latest movie, “Redemption,” opened on June 28.*

*The movie was orignially called "Hummingbird" but the title has been changed.
