Five officers and a civilian were injured when two police helicopters collided over a helipad in Pasadena Saturday afternoon.
One helicopter clipped over the other while one was landing and the other taking off, an NBC News report said. Both the choppers were damaged extensively; however, the officials suffered no major injuries. All the five officers were transferred to a hospital with minor injuries.
The accident took place at around 4:10 p.m. at the Pasadena Police Department's helipad at 2175 Yucca Lane in Altadena, about 1 1/2 miles north of the Rose Bowl. Both the choppers were on duty, one was monitoring the football game between USC and UCLA at the Rose Bowl while the other was involved in routine parole. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the accident.
"We have five people that were transported, all with a complaint of pain," NBC News quoted a Pasadena police spokeswoman. "It would appear at this point that there are no major injuries to our people," she said.
