'Vampire Diaries' Actress Arrested in Connection With Ricin Letters Sent to President Obama

A Vampire Diaries actress was arrested for reportedly mailing ricin-covered letters to President Barack Obama.

35-year-old Shannon Guess Richardson of New Boston, Texas, has been charged with threatening the President of the United States by sending poisoned letters, USA Today reported.

Richardson faces up to 10 years of jail time for the two charges.

Officials released news of her June 7 arrest on Friday. She is currently being held at her local police station, awaiting trial.

Richardson, a mother of five children, is a former Dallas beauty queen who starred in small roles for TV series The Vampire Diaries, The Walking Dead and All My Children.

The laced letter was mailed to the White House on May 20.

"You will have to kill me and my family before you get my guns," Richardson allegedly wrote. "Anyone wants to come to my house will get shot in the face."

In the letter, the author wrote that he was a man who served in the United States Army. The writer also claimed that he was married with children, and lay blame upon the POTUS for not being able to retire.

"[I will] make sure you won't be runnin' this country in the ground any further," the paper read. "What's in this letter is nothing compared to what I've got in store for you mr president. [sic]"

Richardson also is being accused of sending similar letters to Bloomberg and Glaze.

Attorney for Richardson's husband John Delk claimed that Richardson sent out the letters to set her partner Nathan Richardson up, as he is looking to divorce her.

Richardson got in touch with a few FBI officials after she allegedly sent out the letters and told them that she had unearthed questionable materials in the refrigerator and ricin searches online on their home computer.
