This has been such an exciting couple weeks for "Fifty Shades of Grey" fans. First Sam Taylor-Johnson was announced as the director and then E.L. James revealed probably the biggest news yet, a release date of August 1, 2014. It's only a matter of time before official casting news is made and a couple news sources are reporting that it may be sooner than later.
According to Hollywood Life, a source has exclusively told them when the cast will be revealed.
"A reveal of the cast is currently planned for Comic-Con," the source said. The 2013 San Diego Comic-Con is from July 18-21. That means the big reveal could be announced in less than a month. Fans have been waiting for over a year to find out who will play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele and even though it is just a rumor it might not be that far-fetched since James attended last year's Comic-Con. According to International Business Times, James signed books for her fans on the first day of Comic-Con 2012 and also gave an interview to the Associated Press.
She told the Associated Press that one of the reasons so many people love her book is because "it's a love story at heart, which I think women like to read - a passionate love story." She did admit that the kinky love scenes probably do peak a lot of women's interest as well.
"It's got some kinky sex in it, which is kind of interesting - I mean he is just ridiculously wealthy, ridiculously accomplished, as well, and it's nice to go on a holiday and just escape into their world."
One fan, 30-year-old Jennifer Norling told the AP at last year's event that "it's pretty much everything a woman wants in her love life." It has not been announced whether James will be at this year's Comic-Con but it's a strong possibility she might. IBT reports that the write is actually a fan of the event and has attended Comic-Con San Diego before becoming an author when she was a fan of "Twilight."
It has been previously reported that filming for the movie is set to begin in this fall so and you can't film without the cast. Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens at the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con.
Until official casting news is announced it seems that Hollywood heartthrobs like Ian Somerhalder, Matt Bomer and Henry Cavill are still the most buzzed about actors to play Christian Grey. Robert Pattinson recently came back up to play Grey after James was spotted at a party he threw for a friend. As far as Anastasia Steele, Emilia Clarke, Alexis Bledel, Felicity Jones, Lucy Hale and Shailene Woodley have been generating the most buzz.
