Kim and Kanye Baby Update: Reasons Behind The Name North A.K.A.Nori

After much speculation and rumors, the news finally came out that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West named their daughter North but there is some light shedding on why the couple gave the child such an odd name.

According to Hollywood Life, West always liked the name and Kardashian soon got on board with the whole idea.

"It's what Kanye wanted to name his child, no matter if it was a boy or a girl," the source said. "Kim thought it was an interesting name too, and they went with it. They didn't want their child to have a name everybody else already has; they wanted something creative and fun, and North it is."

Sources indicate that North refers to the North Star as the parents believe their daughter is a star as well. "Kanye doesn't think he's a star," the source said. "But he thinks his little girl is - and her name, North, points in that direction."

As previously reported, Kai Georgia Donda West was a rumored name for the child. It has also been reported that the couple plans on nicknaming the baby Nori.

The birth certificate of North West, which was leaked earlier today, reveals that the baby was delivered at 5:34 a.m. on June 15. The baby was not given a middle name.

North West was delivered five weeks prematurely as the original due date was set for the middle of July. Kardashian had a few medical complications, which explained why the baby was delivered earlier than expected. The proud parents and baby have left the hospital today and are safely at home now.
