Samsung Ativ Lineup: Book 9 Plus, Book 9 Lite and All-In-One Ativ One 5 Style Debut at London Press Event

Samsung, the company responsible for the hugely successful Galaxy line of smartphones, held a press event in London on Thursday where they unveiled some of the new devices that they've been working on. Last time the company highlighted its Galaxy lineup, this time, a huge focus of the premiere event was on the Windows 8 powered Ativ lineup.

Among some some of the tablets that were announced at the press event, Samsung unveiled a few of their new Windows 8 powered laptops as well. The first was the Ativ Book 9 Plus. This computer will be the next installment of the Series 9 line of laptops.

The laptop is said to be able to boot up in six seconds and wake from sleep in just one. CNET reports "The Ativ Book Plus will come with a 13-inch display with 3,200 by 1,800 pixel resolution, a touchscreen, and 12 hours of battery. It is 143.6 millimeters thick and weighs 1.3 kilograms. It will use one of Intel's Haswell series processors (i5 or i7), which the chipmaker boasts offers better horsepower with vastly improved battery life. It can hold a maximum of 8 gigabytes of memory and 256GB of storage. It has two USB 3.0 ports, a micro HDMI port, and mini-VGA port."

The company also unveiled the budget friendlier version of the Book 9 Plus, the Book 9 Lite. The Lite will also have a 13-inch display but comes slightly thicker and heavier than the Plus. However, what it lacks in slenderness, it makes up for by giving users the ability to select "touch screen" as an option. The hard drive in it is solid-state and uses a Samsung-specific quad-core processor. It will have 4GB of memory and 256GB of storage.

The Lite also comes with a USB 2.0 port and a USB 3.0 port, in addition to its micro HDMI and mini-VGA. It is available in, wine red, marble white and ash black.

As for the Company's list of "all-in-one" computers, the Ativ One 5 Style was announced. CNET reports this computer will go up against Apple's iMac and other fully integrated computers like Dell's XPS One.

The all-in-one has a 21.5-inch touchscreen display, 1,290 by 1,090 resloution, 4GB or memory, 1 terabyte of storage and a quad-core AMD processor.
