At least two victims were reportedly shot outside a Portland area high school on Friday afternoon, according to multiple media reports.
The shooting occurred outside Rosemary Anderson High School in North Portland, Ore., according to a press release from police. Preliminary information indicates that one or more suspects, who did not enter the school at any point, have fled the area, with police authorities currently searching the scene.
Three alert and conscious victims were reportedly transported to Emanuel Hospital, according to CBS46.com. While two of them have been confirmed as gunshot victims, the third victim's injuries have not been verified, a Portland Fire and Rescue official said, adding that their conditions are unknown.
"This doesn't appear to be an active shooter running around shooting people," Sgt. Pete Simpson, a city police spokesman, told reporters.
Simpson believed the victims were students, but he could not confirm that, Los Angeles Times reported. The victims, identified only as two men and one woman, were wounded outside the school but fled into the building seeking help.
Meanwhile, parents have been summoned to the high school and nearby community colleges have been placed on lockdown.
No additional information was immediately available, the Associated Press reported.
