The father of Edward Snowden's girlfriend, Jonathan Mills, calls him a shy and reserved man with convictions.
"He's always had strong convictions of right and wrong, and it kind of makes sense. But still shocked," Jonathan Mills, told reporters on Tuesday afternoon.
Snowden has gone missing in Hong Kong since he blew the lid over the cyber stalking of millions of U.S. nationals by the National Security Agency. Jonathan said his daughter who had been dating the NSA whistleblower for the last four to five years, was holding on despite the 'shock' and 'fear'.
Mills said he last saw his daughter about two months ago and was unaware of her whereabouts now.
Mills added that he just texted his daughter.
The 29-year-old Snowden said that he leaked the information to protect the "basic liberties" of people across the world.
The American whistleblower checked out of his Hong Kong hotel Monday fearing extradition by the Obama administration.
When asked if had any message for Edward Snowden, Jonathan Mills told the Associated Press, "Just wish him good luck and he's got my love."
It is not clear if Snowden has made any asylum requests to any government, but the Russian media reported that its government is considering offering asylum to Edward Snowden if he approaches them.
Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin told the Russian newspaper Kommersant: "If such an appeal is given, it will be considered. We'll act according to facts."
