Oklahoma City is 1-4 and on a two-game losing streak heading into Friday's contest. Things haven't been easy for the Thunder after losing stars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook to injuries, which have forced soon-to-be restricted free agent Reggie Jackson into the spotlight. Although he's averaging 18 points per game through two contests, he's struggled from the field and is shooting just 35 percent.
His plethora of shots in Monday's loss to Brooklyn apparently annoyed his teammates, namely Kendrick Perkins, who refused to pass to Jackson in the second half. Perkins, who essentially froze out Jackson for taking too many shots, admitted he could have better handled his frustration.
"Just let the game come to you. But with myself and with Serge (Ibaka), we got to do a better job with our body language and leadership skills, because I didn't like the way I acted in the Brooklyn game as far as my body language toward Reggie," Perkins said, via the Oklahoman. "But we know Reggie means well. We support him. He's one of my good friends off the court. So it's no harm in that."
Memphis, meanwhile, is undefeated with a 5-0 record. They haven't had the most competitive schedule, and that won't change Friday when they visit the Thunder. Marc Gasol has provided consistent offense with 21.6 points per game, and guards Mike Conley and Courtney Lee have chipped in with 15.4 points and 16.0 points per game, respectively.
"We're really proud of our guys. We just played with a lot more force," coach Dave Joerger said, via ESPN. "We got contributions from a lot of different places. When we got stops and got rebounds we were able to get out and get some easy buckets which is difficult for us, which is great for us."
