iPhone 5s Release Date Possibly Delayed to October; Later Than Expected Debut of Galaxy Note 3

As rumors and speculation continue to surround the release of the iPhone 5s, Apple fans and consumers may have to wait a little bit longer, according to BGR.com citing a report from Citigroup analyst Glen Yeung.

Yeung, through a research note he recently published, said the new iPhone will not hit stores in September as many had originally thought. Instead the phone’s release date has been pushed back to October, delaying the iPhone about two to four weeks. Yeung said the company is having production issues with the phone.

If this is true, the rumors that the phone would be released in the third quarter are not true.

Also, this may allow Samsung to release two new and popular smartphones before Apple releases one. The South-Korea based company is already making waves with the new Samsung Galaxy S4, selling 10 million units within the phone’s first month of existence. If rumors are true, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 may be released sometime during the IFA conference in Berlin, which is scheduled for September 6-11.

According to Yeung, the delay is “likely due to display issues” with the phones.

This may not be good for Apple, since business has slowed down for the company in the smartphone market. Samsung took the lead in the smartphone industry in May, forcing Apple to try to catch up to its number one competitor.

Also, Apple reported its slowest growth after the first quarter of 2013.

Yeung added that the iPad mini release date may also be later than previously expected. Production problems have cause Apple to delay the tablet’s release to the fourth quarter.
