Samsung Galaxy S4 Releases Wireless Charging Kit

Samsung's flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S4, can't seem to stay out of the news as the company keeps coming out with things to keep it in the spotlight. Last week it announced the Galaxy S4 Mini, the younger cousin of the standard phone version with a slightly smaller screen; this week it announced the Galaxy S4 Active, the durable dust and water resistant version of the phone.

The latest in Galaxy S4 news isn't an update or upgrade to the phone itself, but rather to the way people charge it.

Samsung owners who aren't the biggest fans of cords and wires are in luck. The company has made their wireless charging kit available on their website.

According to Mashable, the kit includes a charging cover, which will cost users $39.99, and a charging pad, which has a price tag of 49.99. In other words, if you want to charge your Galaxy S4 device on a wireless pad rather than fuss with cords, you're going to have to spring $90 for the setup. While it's meant for the Galaxy S4, users who are weary about the price can take solace in the fact that it will work with all Qi-certified wireless charging products including Asus, Nokia, LG, iStyle and others.

The pad is a gray color with covers available in black and white. Users simply place their phone on the wireless charging pad and it will begin to gain a charge. The LED indicator on the device will turn green if the phone is charging properly or yellow if it needs to be readjusted on the pad.

As for the cover, it simply attaches to the Galaxy S4 through the existing battery door. It is important to note that the pad will not work without the cover, meaning that the rig in total is a necessary investment. You can purchase the cover here and the pad here.
