2K Sports hinted once more at an NBA 2K14 promotion arriving sometime during Game 1 of he NBA Finals, according to PastaPadre.com.
Unfortunately for NBA 2K fans, the video strictly uses footage from 2K13. An alley-oop by Blake Griffin, a three from Ray Allen and a ferocious slam from LeBron James are all clips from last year’s game.
As the footage rolls the numbers 6, 6, and 13 appear on the screen with “6.6.13” appearing at the end of the video and the hashtag #SixSix13 placed under it.
The bad news for gamers is they will have to wait to see actual clips from NBA 2K14. The good news according to Pasta Padre is 2K will most likely avoid disappointing its fans. Therefore, on the day many NBA 2K and basketball fans will be watching Game 1 of The Finals between the Miami Heat and the San Antonio Spurs, gamers are expected to see a trailer that reveals actual NBA 2K14 footage. They could even see an announcement about the game’s availability on the Xbox One and PS4.
2K sports has excelled when it comes to the NBA 2K franchise. In past years its main competition came from the EA Sports’ “NBA Live” series. However, after multiple failures from recent NBA Live games, NBA 2K has sat alone atop the market when it comes to basketball video games. (Althought EA Sports has announced an NBA Live 14.)
Unfortunately for gamers, especially those who don’t own a PlayStation 3, where 2K has gone above and beyond in basketball, it has done pretty shabby in baseball.
The videogame company released MLB 2K13 in March, after it was announced that the MLB 2K series had died out. Most, if not all, of the MLB 2K games had been subpar and were in no way competition for PS3-exclusive “MLB: The Show”.
MLB 2K13 is essentially the same game as MLB 2K12 and would most likely not sell at all if The Show was not restricted to the PS3.
Many have wondered if 2K will ever bring the effort it puts into NBA 2K over to MLB 2K.
