Xiaomi added 20,000 more units of Redmi 1S smartphones for its Tuesday sale and the stocks lasted for just 5.2 seconds on Flipkart.

The Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi continues its flash sales in India with thousands of handsets being sold out in a matter of seconds. For the latest flash sale on Sept. 23, Xiaomi stocked up a total of 60,000 units of Redmi 1S but the sale lasted for just 5.2 seconds. The phone maker announced the news via Facebook while it prepares for the next sale on Sept. 30.

It has been over two months Xiaomi launched its first smartphone in India. The phone maker started off by selling its higher-end Mi3 smartphone exclusively through Flipkart in July and held six successful flash sales surpassing 100,000 units. The company abruptly stopped selling its Mi3 and replaced it with Redmi 1S, the company's budget smartphone. In four consecutive sales each week, Xiaomi managed to sell 180,000 units including the one this week.

Xiaomi had a limit of 40,000 units of Redmi 1S in the first three sales. Catering to the increasing demand, the company increased the stock to 60,000 units. Consumers who haven't been able to purchase the smartphone through Flipkart have widely criticized the phone maker of failing to keep up with the demand.

The company did not share the news on how many registrations it received prior to the sale but considering the ongoing trend, it must have got hundreds of thousands of them. All those who registered for this week's sale but could not buy the handset must register once again for the sale next Tuesday, which is a mandatory process.

As for the smartphone's specs, the Redmi 1S features a HD display, a quad-core Snapdragon 400 SoC with Adreno 305 GPU and 1GB of RAM, 8MP camera, a 1.6MP front-facing camera and a 2,000mAh battery. The smartphone is within $100, selling for 5,999 in Indian Rupee value.

The registrations for the September 30 sale begins at 6 p.m. IST on Tuesday. Once the sale opens at 2 p.m. next Tuesday, the smartphone will be sold on a first-come first-serve basis.
