Xiaomi continues to receive a favorable response in India, it again successfully sold 40,000 units of Redmi 1S smartphones in mere 4.2 seconds.

After the massive success of high-end Mi 3 in India, Xiaomi received a similar response for its budget-friendly Redmi 1S smartphone during its Tuesday flash sale. The leading Chinese smartphone company sold 40,000 units of Redmi 1S smartphones in just 4.2 seconds through India's online retail store, Flipkart, the company shared  the news in a tweet and via Facebook after the sale ended.

Xiaomi launched Redmi 1S in India following the ever-growing demand for its smartphones. The tech giant chose the same online sale strategy it used to sell Mi3 in the country. Like its older sibling, the Redmi 1S enjoyed a successful debut during its first Flipkart sale. The flash sale, which ended in about 4.2 seconds, left several online shoppers furious but the phone's attractive pricing and specs are sure to lure them back.

Xiaomi requires buyers to first register their interest for purchase before the company opens its short-period sale. Registration does not guarantee a unit but it is mandatory if one wants to buy the phone. The company strictly follows one handset per person but buyers with multiple accounts can try booking more than one handset, if lucky. Registrations for Tuesday's flash sale apparently crossed the 100,000 mark. The company is accused of creating more demand than supply.

Owing to the fury of customers, Xiaomi has launched a new program (for limited members of course), where it is giving away so-called priority passes to 500 randomly chosen members. But first, interested parties must like Mi India page on Facebook, share the company's new campaign status and finally invite friends. The program ends midnight September 7 and the results will be announced the next day.

If you have been wondering why there is a massive demand for Xiaomi phones, then have a look at their specs. The Redmi 1S sports a 4.7-inch 720p IPS display, quad-core 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB RAM, Adreno 305 graphics, 8-megapixel rear camera and 1.6 front-facing shooter, 16GB in-built storage, 2,000mAh battery, dual-SIM support and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Xiaomi's MIUI layer on top of it, all this for just $99 or 5,999 in Indian currency.

The next sale opens next Tuesday, September 9 and registrations window is open till Monday, September 8.
