Robert Gibbs Demands Darrell Issa Apologize For Labeling White House Official A 'Paid Liar' [VIDEO]

Former White House press secretary Robert Gibbs is demanding that Rep. Darrell Issa give a formal apology to present administration voice Jay Carney, after the congressman made comments that he is a "paid liar."

Issa sat down on Sunday morning on CNN's "State of the Union" to talk about the controversy surrounding the IRS. During the interview Issa attacked Carney's handling of the situation.

"Their paid liar, their spokesperson... he's still making up things about what happened and calling this a local rogue," Issa said referring to an earlier comment by Carney which stated, "he had no information to contradict an inspector general report that found 'no evidence of outside influence or pressure from higher-ups.'"

But Issa promised that he and his committee would expose the White House for emitting the alleged falsities.

"What we have is people who have come in and transcribe interviews," Issa said. "They're saying under penalties of crimes that certain things are true. We have subpoenaed documents that would support that that they say emails went back and forth. We will learn the whole truth."

Gibbs, a known supporter of the current administration and its officials spoke on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" condemning Issa for his judgment.

"I mean it's a stunning thing," Gibbs said. "It's why five people in this town take Darrell Issa seriously and it's the surest bet the Republicans are very much on the verge of overplaying their hand publicly ad the American people will lose interest in their side of this. They want to see the IRS cleaned up, but they will understand quickly that Darrell Issa is doing nothing more than politicizing the event."

Watch Issa make his comments during the interview with Candy Crowley:

The House Oversight Committee, in conjunction with the FBI, is investigating the alleged targeting of conservative and tea party groups by the IRS.
