Vine for Android: Twitter Announces New Zoom Option for 4.0 Users and Above

Vine, the popular six-second video and creativity app, is finally available for more than just iPhone iOS users. Twitter announced Monday that the app is now available for Android smartphone owners.

Vine, which Twitter got a hold of last year, has quickly ballooned into one of the most popular apps on the market. According to a blog post by Twitter, 13 million people are using the app. Those who use Vine can shoot small six-second clips that can be stopped dozens of times allowing people to create artistic animations. With enough skill and patience, users can turns six seconds into an incredible animated tale like the one pictured below:

Vine for iOS and Android are not completely uniform with one another just yet.

"Though we've been very focused on releasing Vine for Android, we've continued to release updates and add new features to the iOS app. As a result, the two apps are not perfectly in sync, but that won't be the case for long," Twitter said in its blog. "Over the coming weeks, you'll see frequent updates with new features -- including front-facing camera, search, mentions and hashtags, and the ability to share to Facebook -- as well as bug fixes and performance improvements. Of course, this is only the beginning -- we have exciting plans for features that could exist only on Android."

Despite not having front-facing camera compatibility, the Android application does have one thing the iPhone iOS version does not have - the ability to zoom. The application is now available for download in the Google Play market. Only those running Android 4.0 and above currently have access to it though.

With the two apps running a bit out of sync with one another, users will have to wait for updates that Twitter promises in the coming weeks before both iPhone and Android users can share the same up-to-date experience with the app.
