6-Hour Crime Spree Leaves 8 Shot, 2 Fatally, In New York City

New York City is in a whirlwind after a six-hour crime spree overran the metropolis leaving eight people shot, two mortally, and one person stabbed, in seven separate incidents spanning late Friday night and ending abruptly Saturday morning.

The first incident happened in the Clinton Hill area of Brooklyn where a 23-year-old man was shot in the upper body - the bullet is believed to have entered through his arm pit ultimately going into this chest - and was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Another shooting took the life of a 29-year-old man, who was also shot in the upper body, in the East Flatbush area of Brooklyn, less than two-hours later, around 1:20 a.m.

In Queens, two people, a man and a woman, were shot in the Rockaway Beach neighborhood. The woman, 24, was rushed to Jamaica Hospital where she is believed to be in stable condition. The man, 22, was taken to another hospital and is also in stable condition.

In the Bronx, two shootings happened in the vicinity of one another, crippling the neighborhood of Mott Haven. Both victims are in stable condition at a local hospital.

Around 3 a.m. another shooting happened in Brownsville leaving a 23-year-old man shot in the leg.

The crime spree ended around 5:30 a.m. when a 40-year-old man was stabbed in the chest. Currently at Jacobi hospital, his condition is believed to be serious but stable.

No arrests have been made in any of the crimes.

The identities of the victims had not been released as of Saturday morning.

According to the NYPD's Office of the Chief of Department weekly report, as of May 19, there were 110 murder complaints, down from 149 around the same time last year.

Further, there were 340 shooting incidents reported in the same week, down from 450 around the same time last year, among those there were 389 victims in those incidents, down from 529 victims in the same week in 2012.
