Carrie Underwood took to Twitter to announce that she's pregnant with her first child with husband Mike Fisher.
The 31-year-old country music singer announced Monday, Sept. 1 that she is expecting.
"In honor of 'Labor' Day, Ace & Penny would like to make an announcement. Their parents couldn't be happier...," the "Blown Away" hitmaker captioned an adorable Twitter photo of herself cuddling her two pooches, who are wearing "I'm going to be a big sister" shirts.
Fisher, 34, a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is a member of the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League, confirmed the announcement, and even gave a hint at what the baby's name might be.
"We haven't picked names yet but it's looking like Fly is gonna fly. #boyorgirl #flyfisher," he tweeted.
A source told Us Weekly, "They couldn't be happier to be starting a family."
Underwood and Fisher reportedly began dating each other after they met at one of the singer's concerts in late 2008, and then got engaged in December 2009. They tied the knot in 2010 at The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Georgia, with more than 250 people in attendance, according to People.
Back in 2009 when the two were still dating, the "American Idol" fourth season grand winner opened up about how many children she wants to have in the future.
"Not that I have a husband to have one with yet, but someday I'd like a family - not a big one, but not a small one either," the singer told Self magazine at the time, according to People. "Two kids is good; three is fine. Four? Somebody's getting something done, because we ain't having five!"
Just this May at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards, Underwood won the fan-voted Milestone Award, for which she had been nominated due to her chart success, especially for her record of having the best starting run ever by a female recording artist on Billboard's Country Airplay, Billboard reported.
