Sudanese Model Atuai Deng Found At NYC Hospital After Missing For 2 Weeks

A 22-year-old Sudanese model who vanished to weeks ago after a night out in Manhattan was found Monday at a city hospital, police told DNAinfo.com

Ataui-Deng Hopkins, who has modeled for Zac Posen and L'Wren Scott, was last seen the night of Aug. 6 near The Attic club and XVI Lounge on West 48th Street. She was reported missing by her boyfriend, Grant Monohon on Aug. 16, who last saw near outside the clubs.

Hopkins was located at the unnamed Manhattan hospital when staff recognized the missing woman from media reports and called police. The six-foot tall model checked herself into the hospital under a different name, sources told DNAinfo.

Hopkins' boyfriend and family said it was not unusual for her to disappear for a few days at a time. But Monohon said he grew concerned after she was missing for a couple of days.

"I was really worried the third day," he told DNAinfo before learning she was found. "She always comes home."

Born in Khartoum, Sudan, Hopkins emigrated to the U.S. in 2004 and landed a contract with Trump Management in 2008, according to New York magazine. She has walked the runway for Christian Siriano and Christian Dior, appeared in Harper's Bazaar and worked with singer Rihanna for her clothing line River Island in 2013.

On Monday, Rihanna tweeted a picture of herself and the model along with a message calling for help in the search for Hopkins.

"If any one has any information on this young lady's whereabouts, please call the NYPD or email findataui@gmail.com."

It is not clear how Hopkins ended up at the hospital or what she was being treated for but police said it was not life threatening, the New York Daily News reported.
