United States President Barack Obama had a little explaining to do Tuesday night. The president had a bit of red lipstick on his shirt collar during his speech at a White House reception for Asian American and Pacific Islander—AAPI— Heritage Month, according to ABCNEWS.com.
He took swift action in explaining where the stain originated from, getting ahead of all the rumors that would have likely followed the reception.
“I want to thank everybody who’s here for the incredible warmth of the reception. A sign of the warmth is the lipstick on my collar. I have to say I think I know the culprit,” the president said as the audience laughed. “Where’s Jessica Sanchez? It wasn’t Jessica. It was her aunt. Where is she? Auntie, right there. Look at this. Look at this. I just want everybody to witness.
President Obama was quite aware of who he would have to deal with if he didn’t explain the situation right away. “I do not want to get in trouble with Michelle, so I’m calling you out right in front of everybody,” he said jokingly.
The Commander and Chief then got down to business, thanking Asian American and Pacific Islanders for their service and hard work. He also mentioned Sri Srinivasan, who was confirmed as a U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals judge for the D.C. circuit on Thursday.
“In every election, at every board meeting, in every town across America, we see more and more different faces of leadership, setting examples for every young kid who sees a leader that looks like him or her, and that’s a good thing. We’ve got to keep that up,” Obama said. “Thank you for the incredible contributions you are making each and every day.”
