According to media reports, Rihanna is "seriously" thinking about buying a British soccer club.
It seems like Rihanna's trip to Brazil at the tail-end of the 2014 FIFA World Cup wasn't just for pleasure. She was there on business! The Bajan beauty is planning on buying a British soccer club sometime soon. According to media reports, Rihanna is "really serious" about setting up a sports academy in her native Barbados and then becoming the chairwoman or owner of a team in England.
"At first we thought Rihanna's desire to be involved with soccer on a business level would soon blow over. We figured she was still on a high from the World Cup. But now it's becoming clear she really is serious," said a source, according to Daily Mail. "She's talking about setting up a football academy in her native Barbados. Then her big dream is to be involved with a UK club."
Apart from this, the 26-year-old singer is also thinking about getting a club close to her "Tinsel Town" home. She's also been getting some advice from her friend and Chelsea football player Didier Drogba.
"Britain is like a second home to her, although she's also hinted she may do something with an LA team," the source added.
Previously the "S&M" hit-maker had confessed to being a Liverpool fan. During the recent World Cup she posted several pictures on Instagram page of herself supporting the home nation until they were ruthlessly dumped out of the competition 7-1 by Germany.
Rihanna is not the only big name star who has been interested in taking over a football team in the United Kingdom. Previously, rapper Snoop Dogg admitted he was thinking about investing in Scottish champions Glasgow Celtic. Prior to that P. Diddy was said to be in talks to buy Crystal Palace in 2010 because he liked their name. However, his bid was dismissed by the club.
