Windows Phone users will soon be able to use Foursquare's check-in app, Swarm, with all of its features as seen in Android and iOS counterparts.

Foursquare, the location-based social networking service for smartphones, is closing in on the release of its check-in app Swarm on the Windows Phone platform. The news comes directly from Foursquare, which split its check-in feature and local recommendations.

After releasing Swarm for Android and iOS in May, details of the Windows Phone version were scarce. Now, the company has finally let some details out on the much-awaited release. In an official Foursquare blog post Thursday, the company said the Swarm for Windows Phone is going through some final touches and will finally be launched in the next few weeks. This is a development from the company's vague timeframe of "coming soon" since May.

"Since we've announced the launch of Swarm, we've heard from a ton of Windows Phone fans about how excited you are to see the app come to a live tile near you," the company said in its official blog post. "It's almost ready for you, so we wanted to share a preview of what's to come."

Even better, the mobile social networking service shared a preview of what Swarm would look like on Windows Phone. Three screenshots show the app's interface almost identical to the Android and iOS versions. Features are alike including stickers and "Nearby plans" along with navigation buttons on the top of the display. The announcement comes just a day after the company redesigned the Foursqaure logo and its user interface.

Describing the features of the new unbundled Swarm app, Foursquare said at the time that it aimed at connecting friends better and quicker. The main app restored the niche function of local recommendations, which Foursquare is famous for.

The Foursquare app is already available for Windows Phone users.
