A super fun blast from the past, especially for fans of the "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air", awaited viewers of "The Graham Norton Show" on Friday night. Will Smith and his son Jaden, who were in London for an event that heralded the achievements of the Mayor's Leadership Clubs and also have a movie "After Earth" ready for release, were guests on the program.
After a question by Norton on whether father and son had collaborated on music together, Smith said that while Jaden is a good rapper, it hadn't happened as yet and probably would someday.
Norton then produced two microphones and asked them if they wanted to perhaps rap together on the show. Willingly, with Smith providing the beat, Jaden performed a short rap number, to the applause of the audience. Smith then reminded Norton (in rap) of the 8 million hits his last "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" performance on the talk show got on Youtube, revealing that this time, he'd brought DJ Jazzy Jeff with him.
Smith and Jaden then broke into "Switch", getting the audience to pitch in on the chanting (fellow guests Heather Graham danced along to the track happily on the couch, while Bradley Cooper wore a big grin).
Smith then told Norton he still wasn't done with his surprises that night, and brought out Alfonso Ribeiro, his co-star from "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air". The music immediately shifted to Tom Jones' "It's not unusual", and the trio launched into the "Carlton Dance", an improvised comic dance that Ribeiro's character was famous for on the show.
And if that still wasn't enough for the entertainment factor and the cheers to go through the roof, Smith got Norton to join him, Jaden and Ribeiro in one more classic dance routine from his old TV show - the one that goes with "Jump On It".
According to recent media reports , Smith has hinted that he may get the music "bug" again and has been "messing around" with Kanye West in the studio a couple of times. He showed that he's still got the chops with an impromptu performance of "Summertime" on a recent episode of "Late Night With David Letterman" as well.
