Apple Brings iTunes Extra on Apple TV With Add-ons

Apple has updated its iTunes movie features and iTunes Extra with cloud-delivered additional capabilities.

Additional features of the new iTunes Extra will allow subscribers access to behind-the-scenes videos, directors' commentaries, short films and high-resolution photo galleries. The Sydney Morning Herald reported the feature will be available for second and third-generation Apple TVs only. Users who watch the HD version of a movie must pay an added cost.

These additional features come just after the release of South Korean-American sci-fi film, Snowpiercer. The film will be released both in theaters and digitally, available for download on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, YouTube, Microsoft Xbox and more.

Apple plans to entice more people to buy the high-definition version of the movie from iTunes, as they've thrown in lots of extra content. Apple TV offered exclusive interviews with the stars of the film including Chris Evans, as well as short videos explaining the concept and the artwork featured in the film.

"There will be more extras added as we get closer to the Blu-ray release," Caroline McKenzie, director of marketing for Radius-TWC (The Weinstein Co.), told USA Today. "That is really great because traditionally you send the Blu-ray and DVD out into the world and it's a fixed object."

Radius-TWC (The Weinstein Co.) will distribute the film.
