Sherpa claimed that they are better than Siri and is now offering its services toGoogle to improve its Google Glass voice command function.
Sherpa CEO and co-founder Xabier Uribe-Etxebarria announced the company's plans during the Sherpa Summit held in Spain last Thursday. Some of the attendees were Mozilla CEO Mitchell Baker and former Apple CEO John Sculley. He stated that the voice command app that they will be launching soon will be more proficient for the Google Glass hardware than Google's own voice command app.
"Right now, with Google Glass, it's not taking advantage of all the features and the potential of Google Glass. In Google Glass, they have some commands you need to say -- the same words, otherwise it won't work," Uribe-Etxebarria said during the summit. "We will bring the glasses into the next stage. With Sherpa you can have a conversation in a much more natural way."
Sherpa is still performing some tests on this app to see how it can work properly on devices. Some of its features are the automatic navigation of any scheduled events by simply tapping the calendar, no pre-download required music play, volume adjustment, and WI-FI on switch. These will be performed by simply using your voice as if you are talking to someone in a natural way. No keywords are needed unlike Google's current voice command app.
The app will also track your favorites and will automatically alert you for any update such as if you are always visiting a page of a certain celebrity, it will automatically pop up the page as soon as you login. It is also synchronized with the weather news and will remind you to bring an umbrella if there is a rainfall forecast.
The company targets to release the app this year.
