A camera testing firm released the results of their camera and video test of Samsung Galaxy S4.
DxO Labs, a private image processing software company based in France, declared that the Android device is better than the iPhone5 in camera performance. iPhone 5 scored 72 when they did the test but Samsung Galaxy S4 scored higher at 75.
To date, it is still Nokia 808 Pureview holding the best results at 77 but it operates using Symbian which made it less commercialized than the iOS and Android devices. However, there are rumors that Nokia is planning to switch to a different operating system called "Eos" this coming July.
The camera is very important specification for smartphones since people love to upload images on different social networking sites.
DxO clarified that even if Samsung has surpassed iPhone 5's ratings, it wasn't really a clean sweep. It may have a good performance when it comes to still shots but iPhone 5's video shots are more stable.
"The Galaxy S4 showed impressive detail preservation in bright light conditions," DxO said. "The 13-megapixel sensor shows a significant improvement compared to the best 8-megapixel smartphone cameras."
In low light, though, the Galaxy S4 struggled with noise and in general the camera over sharpened images so that edges look lighter than the center.
Here are details of the ratings of the camera test performed in Samsung Galaxy S4 versus iPhone 5 from the DxO website.
