Shazam Brings Brand New App To iPad; Automatically Identify Songs While Sending An Email (VIDEO)

The music identification service Shazam has come newer and more user friendly to the iPad, according to Mashable.com.

The new version of the app was launched Thursday and features brand new abilities. First, is the apps new home screen. All of the most-tagged songs and TV shows are displayed. Click on a TV show and see music from that show, tweets about the show and a bit of information about the cast. You can also view “Real Time Top Tracks” which displays all the songs people around the world are currently tagging.

Next is the Auto-Tagging feature. Auto-Tagging instantly recognizes the music, TV shows and TV commercials that are playing around you. Also, the Auto-Tagging feature continues to go work while you’re accomplishing other tasks with the iPad. You can scan through what Auto-Tagging picks up, and add your selection to your Favorites.

The new app also allows you to see what you’re friends are listening to and see the top songs from around the world. You can even narrow down locations to see the most popular tracks in a certain city.

Shazam needs no more than a second to identify a song. Once it does, a feature titled LyricPLay allows the lyrics to the identified song to appear right on the screen. Also, with the new app comes “Rdio”—the feature that makes it possible to stop at a light and identify the song playing in the car next to you. You can then listen to it in your own car.

“We have seen amazing growth and expansion in both the number of people who use Shazam on iPad as well as their level of engagement,” says Rich Riley, of Shazam. According to Riley, Shazam is currently used by over 300 million people worldwide.

Shazam is not the only service that got an update for the iPad. Mailbox, the Gmail service for iOS devices, also got a renovation more geared towards Apple’s tablet.
