Samsung Galaxy S4 Reaches Over 10 Million Sales In Less Than A Month

Samsung, the makers of the Samsung Galaxy S4, says it has sold over 10 million units of the smartphone to retailers, according to CNET. This makes the Galaxy S4 Samsung’s fastest selling smartphone to date, as the company reached 10 million sales in less than a month.

According to a press release from the company Wednesday, the Galaxy SIII took 50 days to reach 10 million in terms of global channel sales (this does not mean sales to consumers), the Galaxy S2 took five months and the Galaxy S took the longest time at seven months.

The Galaxy S4 seems to be a bigger success than its predecessor and is moving Samsung in the right direction. Two of the smartphone’s main competitors have been the HTC One and the iPhone 5.

Between the two the Galaxy S4 has been in the middle of the pack. The iPhone 5 hit 5 million sales in the first weekend of its launch—sales to consumers.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the HTC says the HTC One hit 5 million sales in its first month.

The Galaxy S4 is easily in the top tier of smartphones. It runs on Android 4.2.2, a 1080p HD screen and the ability to answer the phone with just a wave of your hand. The phone also features things that are more cool than necessary, like pausing a video when u look away or the use of an IR blaster that turns the phone into a TV remote.

Samsung said it plans to add more colors to the phone this year. It will add blue and red this summer. Purple and brown will come in the fall. The phone currently comes in white and black.
