Xbox One Could See Integration With Windows Phone

At Microsoft’s Xbox One launch Tuesday, we were given a significant amount of information on the new console. From its ability to run Skype and any videogame at the same time, to its user friendly home screen, the One looks pretty promising.

However, one more piece, according to PCMag.com, could possibly be coming to the new console—Windows Phone. The company didn’t come out and say it at the launch, but that didn’t mean there was absolutely nothing to say on the matter.

"Is there anything I can say? No. It doesn't mean there's nothing that's being worked on. There's some time between now and the delivery of Xbox One. It is true that the general idea of an increased seamlessness and integration across these elements is a goal," Greg Sullivan, senior marketing manager for Microsoft, told PCMag on Wednesday.

Currently, Windows Phone incorporates a lot of Xbox components. Its media store and many of its games are Xbox-branded. The phone also allows you to collect Xbox gamer points.

"I would offer up Windows Phone as evidence of great cross-divisional collaboration at Microsoft. Are we where we'll ultimately be? No, and we'll continue to improve it," Sullivan said.

As of right now, the Windows Phone platform only has 3 percent market share. The new Nokia Lumia 928 was announced by Verizon a couple weeks ago, featuring a 4.5-inch PureView displau and an 8.7-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics.

According to Microsoft, Tuesday’ Xbox One launch was only part of the show.

"We have so much goodness that there's no way we could have packed it all into one event," said Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Chief of Staff Aaron Greenberg. "The best way I can describe it is: We're really going to tell one story across two events."

The second half of the “story” will take place at the Electronic Entertainment Expo—otherwise known as E3—on June 10.
