'Assassin's Creed 5: Unity' Producer Claims Ubisoft Won't Delay PC Release Date Despite Hardware Challenges

Ubisoft's "Assassin's Creed: Unity" executives claim the PC version will likely be shipped out with the console titles.

Rock Paper Shotgun reports "Unity" Producer Lesley Phord-Toy claimed the company is "confident" they will ship the title for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on Oct. 28.

"We're always aiming to ship all our games on all platforms at the same time," Phord-Toy told Rock Paper Shotgun. "I don't have any specific news on the PC version of Assassin's Creed Unity, but I do know we're planning on shipping on all three [platforms]: Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. I haven't heard any news differently than that.

"It can be challenging," she continued. "PC has a variety of different hardware configurations that you can't necessarily predict. On a console you know what's in the box. Every customer has the same configuration for the most part, and first-parties push firmware updates so everyone has what you're expecting to have. PCs are nowhere near as consistent. So it can be extremely challenging to try and support as many of those permutations as possible."

Ubisoft claims fans can expect "key changes" to the upcoming "Unity" title. More specifically, gamers can interact with their surroundings for online gameplay missions. The franchise announced their new four-player co-op mode during E3 2014, where gamers can enter another player's game to help with missions.

"Wandering into a tavern, for example, you might meet an Assassin Brotherhood operative who offers co-op missions, and he'll even tell you which of your friends are online and potentially ready to join," Ubisoft said a blog post. "But while co-op can open up new side stories and missions (or just present a fun way to explore the open world of Paris), it's not necessary to finishing the campaign, if you really just want to play solo."
